In February most Chinese cadmium industry participants spend in their holidays. There are rare deals in the market. Most private owned smelters and producers enter into their holiday in advance and end their long holiday after others begin. Prices for cadmium ingot are stable at RMB16.5-17/kg. Before the long holiday (Feb 9-Feb 15), international cadmium ingot prices goes up by about USD0.5/lb; after the long holiday, the prices go up by another USD0.5/lb Until the end of February, European cadmium ingot market prices reach USD0.95-1.00/lb.
Although the international cadmium ingot prices go up over and over again, domestic cadmium ingot participants are pessimistic about the downstream demand and they would not accept the raw materials prices. Consumers do not take purchase of raw material with the price rising. But they continue to take purchase from hand to mouth in small volumes. In general, prices for cadmium ingot in February are about RMB16.5-17/kg.
