Chinese primary aluminum production kept growing quickly due to the rapid smelting capacities expansion in northwestern regions. The continuous growing production pushed Chinese primary aluminum market into greater surplus, which pressed aluminum ingot price to go down and down. However, with the advantage of low power cost, smelting plants in northwestern regions ignore the great surplus, and their capacity expansion goes on. Thus the proportion of the total production from these regions keeps growing.
