Aluminum smelting in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China is developing very fast due to low power cost. The smelting plants in Xinjiang tried to drive more capacities on stream as soon as they can because they earn considerable profit even though aluminum ingot price lingers among quite low levels. The running capacity increased rapidly in 2012, which reached 1.84 million tons per annum in January, 2013. The continuous increase of running smelting capacity in Xinjiang will exert pressure on Chinese aluminum ingot price.
