In 2021, the non-ferrous industries suffered abrupt changes from COVID-19, power restriction, Carbon Emission Peak policy, etc. The prices of base metal generally rise while those of non-ferrous metal vary. The prices of indium, supported by capital, started to move up strongly since August but the demand remained weak; The bismuth market stayed calm and the prices, which hovered at the cost line, requested further support to break through RMB50,000/t (USD7,815/t); The tight supply of raw material pushed the germanium prices to rise continuously and the demand from fiber optic industry would further increase in 2022; Gallium market experienced a balanced supply and demand on the whole in 2021.   • Hailong Bai, a senior engineer of Materials, holds an on-job doctorate of Engineering and mainly studies design and processing of alloy materials. He serves as R&D Center Director of Yunnan Tin Group (Holding) Company Ltd. at present after working successively as General Manager Assistant, Deputy General Manager and General Manager of Tin Products Manufacturing Co., Ltd. of YTCL as well as Deputy General Manager of Yunnan Tin Co., Ltd. He has led to accomplish five key research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels and a number of technological transformation projects since 2010, from R&D to development, production and engineering application of new products. Moreover, besides completion of major provincial, municipal and corporate scientific researches, he has successfully developed more than ten kinds of new products including gold-sprayed wire, solder paste, lead-free solder, high-purity metal, indium dioxide, ITO target, etc., which have brought a sales turnover of 2 billion yuan accumulatively and tax revenue above 80 million yuan. He has more than 20 patents authorized and over 30 professional papers published, has won five provincial and ministerial awards. In addition, he has been selected as a member of Yunling Industrial Leading Talent in Yunnan Ten-thousand-person Program and won the title of Technology Innovative Talent of Yunnan Province.
