Prices of wire rod and rebar in most domestic markets showed an up-down-up trend in January. Early this month, prices moved up after the New Year holiday pulled by strong demand, but then they decreased and kept unchanged for about one week, while in the last week, prices increased again when mills lifted ex-works prices although the demand was rather weak with the approach of Spring Festival. Most participants will go back to the market after February 18th, and observers predict that prices will go up after the holiday.
