Prices of seamless pipe rose sharply right after the New Year holiday (January 1-3) stimulated by price increases of raw materials like iron ore, steel billet and tubing blank as well as downstream customers’ enthusiasm in supplementing materials after the consumption during the holiday, but the market was back to be inactive with price falling backs of raw materials in the second week of this month
. Generally the price kept unchanged in the second and fourth week of this month with the approach of the Spring Festival (February 10) and the market performed inactively, coupled with participants’ wait-and-see attitudes . Insiders deem the price is likely to go up in late February when participants come back from the holiday in succession and stimulant policies issued by the central government take effect gradually.
