Aluminum smelting production cost in Shanxi China is relatively high due to high power cost, which makes aluminum smelting plants suffer big losses as aluminum ingot price kept lingering under their production cost. There is advantage of low alumina cost for aluminum smelting in Shanxi. However, power cost accounts for more than 40% of production cost. Thus aluminum smelting plants in Shanxi province have to find the way to survive.
