The price of stainless scrap kept generally stable in the first half of this month and it went up gradually in the second one supported by sharp and continuous price rises of nickel in LME futures and Chinese domestic markets as well as traders’ intention
. Nevertheless, the sales performance remained unsatisfying as downstream foundries could not take sufficient orders for finished stainless steel products and they were facing heavy capital pressures . In the meantime, most traders were not confident of the coming market and they were inactive in supplementing inventories.
