As the more and more steel mills went through maintenance in August, the demand of brown fused alumina dropped further. However, nearly all smelters resumed production successively in August after two-year-long out of production, and the oversupply of brown fused alumina became severe. Export market was sluggish as European and American producers were on summer holiday. As the alumina price kept falling in the past two months, the white fused alumina price became soft in the slow market this month.
