In July, most consumers were cautious about procurement and only purchased for immediate use, and low grade cobalt metal prices kept in downward trend to USD12.5-13.5/lb as global economy remained weak. European insiders left for vacations during summer months, coupled with downstream sectors, such as lithium buttery, cemented carbide, catalyst and hydrogen storage alloy powder had entered typical sluggish season. Insiders expected that cobalt metal market would keep quiet in the coming 1-2 weeks and many participants believed that prices bottomed out. However, buyers were still cautious about taking positions due to protracted sporadic demand.
