Chinese silicon metal market continued the dull trend in June. The overall supply for silicon metal exceeded the demand and the prices dropped continuously, especially in late June. The downstream industries kept slow and demand for silicon metal saw no increase. Although the operating rate in the rainy season was lower than that in the previous years, the operating rate in June was a bit higher than that in early this year and the output mainly came from Yunnan, Sichuan and Xinjiang. In June, Chinese silicon metal export market continued to be sluggish with thin trading and there were still many irregular activities in the market. Chinese silicon metal export prices also dropped continuously in June.
