Terminal demand for tungsten products did not improve in May, but the prices of tungsten products increased in the first half of May due to tight supply of tungsten concentrate
. Most tungsten concentrate producers held stocks away from selling and pushed up the price . However, lacking support from downstream market, tungsten concentrate price increased slightly . From the middle of May, most tungsten concentrate traders liquidated stocks, as they were not confident about the future market, and the price moved down . Terminal consumers’ demand did not increase, so APT and tungsten carbide powder producers had few orders on hand, and reduced monthly output . Market participants hold negative attitude towards short-term market, and tungsten products’ prices have room to go down further.
