Chinese silicon metal market keeps weak in May with the prices dropping continuously. The demand for silicon metal from both domestic and overseas markets did not increase. The rainy season began in South China in late May and the power price in some areas decreased, but the operating rate did not increase sharply as the overall market was inactive and most buyers only purchased materials from hand to mouth. In May, the silicon metal export market saw some orders for Q3, but the spot market saw no big improvements and the silicon metal export prices dropped continuously.
