Chinese tantalum and niobium markets are still in the processing of rebounding gradually through the whole May, while the prices of tantalite see a slight rise with most of domestic processors replenishing their stocks willingly. Columbite prices decrease due to the widespread application of the ferroniobium in producing metallurgical grade niobium oxide. Average grade niobium oxide demand continues to be stable, while the prices go down with the lowering cost of the raw materials.
Metallurgical grade tantalum oxide demand keeps dim, as the cemented carbide industry is badly affected by the economy crisis in E.U. High grade niobium oxide export market goes steadily, with major domestic producers carrying out their long-term contracts. Domestic optical grade niobium oxide demand is better than optical grade tantalum oxide demand. Insiders reveal that at the present time, optical grade niobium oxide demand is not as strong as that of last year.
