April, rare earth markets are flat, but prices are relatively stable. Global economy has yet to pick up, and related downstream industries are not strong. Lack of support of the real needs, buyers are reluctant to replenish inventories of rare earth products in bulk, tending to demand procurement; most separation, smelting enterprises are still in shutdown state, and they will not rush to sell rare earth stocks, which make rare earth prices are firm. Despite the slow turnover of the spot market, suppliers are optimistic about the market after May Day Holiday.
Transactions of foreign market are weak, and prices of light rare earth elements, such as lanthanum, cerium, are still low. Due to less of the heavy rare earth inquiries, turnover is slow, but prices are relatively stable. The sources believe that buyers overseas are likely to rebuild stocks during later Q2 and early Q3.
