The rare earth market in the first half of March 2012 continues deserted, and buyers are not positive to replenish stocks, which cause transactions to be difficult in the spot market. Prices of rare earth products keep falling tendencies. The last half of the month, part of sources believes that rare earth prices have bottomed out, and PrNd mischmetal market starts to be getting better above all things and prices rise rapidly, which drives heavy rare earth product prices quickly pick up. Inquiries of the spot market increase from consumers, and the majority of separation and smelting enterprises to suspend the offers of rare earth products. However, the lack of support of the actual needs of the downstream industry, rare earth market shows sensitive and fragile.
Foreign market trend is still a lack of vitality and prices of light rare earth products continue to decline. Transactions of lanthanum and cerium are still slow. Heavy rare earth prices are temporarily stable, and the future trend is more optimistic than that of LRE. Abroad, the deposits in the majority of mines are light rare earth elements, due to the lack of financial and technical support, mining companies are actively seeking investors.
