In the end of February, TISCO released the purchasing price for high carbon ferrochrome 50% to be yielded in March at RMB7,700/t delivered, down by RMB50/t compared with that of February, which make most participants’ disappointed towards the future market
. In March, Chinese high carbon ferrochrome market goes down slightly and it is not confident towards the market in April . Due to tight supply of electricity in South Africa, most ferrochrome smelters have decreased their production greatly, which makes international high carbon ferrochrome prices go up . Most Chinese importers are inactive in high carbon ferrochrome purchase due to large price gaps with Chinese domestic materials . Although chrome ore import prices decrease somewhat, they are much lower than Chinese prices in main ports and it is very difficult to sell chrome ore in China, so most importers are very cautious in chrome ore purchase .
