Prices of wire rod and rebar were in different trends this month. In North China, they were in upward trends while in South China, they declined. Traders in North China, such as Beijing and Tianjin burdened great losses because steel mills, such as HBIS, did not reduce wire rod and rebar ex-works prices in February. Consequently, they moved up their offers. However, in South China, dragged by increasing inventories, traders had to reduce prices to promote sales. Nevertheless, supported by the recovering demand with the arrival of spring, insiders predict that prices will go up next month.
