Chinese silicon metal market participants left the market for the Spring Festival holiday from around January 22nd to 28th
. The overall silicon metal market was weak in January . The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) raised the on-grid electricity price in December . Following the power price rise, more silicon metal smelters chose to stop production and most smelters were unwilling to sell materials . Chinese silicon metal traders and consumers purchased some materials in early December . Chinese silicon metal price increased slightly in the first half of December and kept stable in the second half of December . Before the Spring Festival holiday, Chinese silicon metal market was generally stable, and the market saw some lower prices as some smelters lowered offers for cash back, and some buyers purchased materials at relatively low prices . After the Spring Festival holiday, the overall operating rate kept low and smelters kept offers firm and even raised offers slightly, but buyers were in no hurry to add stocks . The silicon metal market was quiet in the last several days of January with thin trading . In January, the silicon metal export market saw some orders for February, but the deals in the spot market were few . The silicon metal export price decreased slightly before the holiday and increased slightly after the holiday .
