Prices of wire rod and rebar in most domestic markets dropped slightly early this month, and then with the arrival of the Spring Festival holiday, prices kept unchanged from middle January. In South China, prices declined greatly because materials with much cheap prices from northern steel mills poured into the South market. However, most steel mills still held ex-works prices unchanged, such as Shagang Steel. Besides, influenced by the weak demand from end users, insiders predict that prices are unlikely to increase greatly next month.
