When cobalt price hovered at a very low level at the end of July, some European traders were in a hurry to raise prices in order to make profit after summer vacation, regardless of weak demand in August. At the same time, domestic cobalt salts and downstream products producers also seized the opportunity to lift prices and cobalt market underwent short rebounding at the end of July and early August. However, lithium battery, cemented carbide, ceramic, enamel and magnet industries were in the off-season, so the price rise lacked strong support and it began to weaken from the third week of August.
