Due to the tighter monetary policy, most steel market participants were burdening heavier capital pressure. Buyers were reluctant to place orders in large quantities and only purchasing materials for urgent need. The market ran sluggish this month and most traders’ sales volumes were under regular level. Although September is coming, which means the beginning of the traditional high season, traders are not confident of the future market because the demand for construction steel is hard to recover influenced by the heavier capital pressure. Therefore, insiders predict that prices of wire rod and rebar are unlikely to go up.
