The antimony market was continuing low in May following the downward trend in April.
Smelters in Lengshuijiang stopped production on 10th May right away to reduce the supply amount when learned the price could not stop decreasing in the short term. However, the news did not stir up the prices of antimony products and just maintained the price of antimony ingot 99.65%min and trioxide 99.5%min at RMB100,500-103,000/t and RMB91,000-93,000/t respectively for about three weeks. Owing to the inflation in domestic market, some consumers in antimony market reduced their consumption or used other materials, just like: magnesium hydroxide, magnesium sulfate, zinc borate and so on to control the production cost; and part of consumers left the market, all these caused the demand of antimony products to weaken sharply. The producers of antimony trioxide decreased their offers step by step to attract order under the heavy sales pressure, at the same time, part of them reduced the output. Therefore, the demand of antimony ingot, raw material of antimony trioxide becomes weaker and weaker.
