BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Jun 11 – After keeping decreasing for around two months, the silicon metal price began to rebound in May, which was mainly pushed by the reduced output caused by the power rationing
. In late May, Yunnan and Sichuan entered into the rainy season with power price decreasing and operating rate increasing gradually, but the production situation in Hunan and Sichuan was still unfavorable due to the high power price and limited power supply . The silicon metal supply was tight in the spot market, moreover, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced to raise the power price for non-residential use across 15 provinces by around RMB0.0167/kwh (0.26cent/kwh) after June 1st averagely, Chinese silicon metal price kept firm in late May and some concluded price even increased slightly further .
