In May, Chinese alumina price kept fluctuating and declining, while some manufacturers were expected to face losses again. The market was in thin trading, while the traders were mainly looking on the market. However, most of the alumina producers showed no interest in limiting and reducing production. The oversupply situation of alumina market was unlikely to improve. At the end of May, NDRC announced that the price of power utilized not by civilians was required to increase by RMB0.02/KW since June 1, while electrolytic aluminum producers were expected to face production limitation in future market and the future electrolytic demand was not positive.
