The Chinese major producers mainly produce germanium products of high value-added. As raw material, germanium metal export decreases and price of germanium metal in Chinese market appears an upward trend in the first half of March. In addition, the germanium shortage caused by the Spring Festival holiday in February has not been remitted, which has intensified the tension of germanium metal supply. The succeeding earthquake in Japan did not influence Chinese germanium market. However, due to high germanium metal price, most downstream consumers who have certain amount of inventory reduce their purchasing and remain wait-and-see. In the second half of March, price of germanium metal keeps stable.
