In September, China's ferrosilicon market moved from weakness to stability. Early in the month, softening semi-coke and slowing buying activity pushed mainstream 72%min prices down by RMB250/t (USD37/t), with 75%min following the same path as buyers purchased on schedule. By the second half, the decline halted—steady procurement and suppliers' reluctance to accept further cuts kept prices largely firm.
Export markets mirrored domestic softness before finding footing. For 72%min, downward domestic prices and sluggish foreign buying kept spot activity thin and quotes declining, before flattening late in the month on steady purchases. The 75%min export segment traced a similar arc: early declines on cautious buying gave way to stability as market movements normalized.
Regionally, India diverged. Rising costs and tightening supply drove mainstream ferrosilicon prices upward, with Indian buyers purchasing steadily. Europe stayed subdued—cautious buying kept spot activity thin and price competition intense. The US market held flat, with buyers purchasing as scheduled.
