August presented a bifurcated manganese landscape. On the upside, manganese flake, manganese lump, and manganese briquette all drew support from a firmer domestic price environment and steady transaction flows, allowing export quotations to advance while buyers maintained disciplined, consistent purchasing. The flake segment benefited most visibly, with rising domestic values transmitting directly into higher export prices; lump followed on the back of firmer flake prices and smooth deal execution, while briquette prices edged up more modestly, anchored by stable transactions and domestic gains.
By contrast, the ferro-manganese complex remained the weakest link. The Mn 65%min, C 7%max market moved sluggishly, with most suppliers carrying heavy inventory overhangs. The Mn 75%min, C 2%max segment fared little better, its movements muted by eroding demand. Across both grades, the absence of meaningful restocking left the market drifting.
Silico-manganese offered a mixed picture. The 60/14 grade saw limited buying interest, with buyers restricting purchases to scheduled requirements rather than opportunistic volumes. The 65/17 grade, however, bucked the trend with higher prices, though overall transactions remained slow.
In sum, August was less a story of uniform weakness than of selective resilience: flake and related products capitalized on domestic strength, while ferro-manganese and parts of the silico-manganese complex remained weighed down by soft demand and inventory pressure.
