1. Market Highlights
Due to weak demand from downstream industries, market participants continued to show bearish sentiment this month and CRC and HGI coil average prices in Chinese major regions dropped by RMB150-200/t (USD21-28/t) in May. Steel mills faced more difficulties in taking enough orders this month. Due to lower prices in domestic market and soft demand from overseas clients, exporters cut offers accordingly this month.
In the international market, prices in Turkey, Malaysia, Vietnam and India continued on the decline this month due to falling prices of raw materials and weakened demand from downstream industries.
