1. Market Highlights
The domestic section steel and steel pipe market performed less actively this month than that of last month as the quick and continuous price declines weakened the confidence of market participants to a large extent. The demand from downstream industries remained soft, and end users kept cautious about purchasing seeing the continuous price declines. Meanwhile, prices of raw materials decreased continuously, weakening the cost support for finished steel. Discouraged by the poor sales performance, both steel mills and traders had to move down prices in succession. In addition, the bank crisis overseas heightened the cautious attitudes of domestic market participants to some extent.
