1. Market Highlights
Wire rod and rebar prices in Chinese major markets recorded an up-down-up trend this month but did not show big changes compared with one month ago. Prices of raw materials remained high and steel mills faced much pressure from firm cost but the demand from downstream industries failed to pick up as expected, which weakened participants' confidence in the coming market. Wire rod and rebar export prices from China went up in the first half of this month supported by firm cost, while they went down in the second half of this month discouraged by limited demand from overseas buyers.
In the international market, wire rod and rebar prices recorded an up-and-down trend this month. Those in India went down slightly for weakening demand by the end of the fiscal year.
