1. Market Highlights
The domestic HRC and steel plate market kept improving in the first half of the month following the continuous price increases, but turned to dim in the second half of the month as the sudden price drop and the slow recovery in demand weakened the confidence of market participants. The bank crisis overseas heightened the cautious attitudes of domestic market participants. In the meantime, prices of raw materials failed to keep going up and fell significantly in the second half of the month, forcing steel mills and traders to move down prices of steel.
In the meantime, the HRC and steel plate market in most overseas countries ran slowly during the month as the frequent price changes in China weakened market participants' confidence to some extent. Meanwhile, the demand from downstream industries remained soft.
