1. Market Highlights
In January, stimulated the rising expectation for demand recovery and higher prices of raw materials, CRC and HGI coil average prices in Chinese major regions went up by about RMB150/t (USD22/t). Market prices were pulled up by the end of the month, when market participants returned from the lunar New Year holiday. However, the demand picked up not as fast as expected. Supported by the appreciation of Chinese yuan and higher prices in domestic market, CRC and HGI coil export prices rose by USD50-60/t this month.
In the international market, CRC prices in Malaysia, Vietnam and India as well as HGI coil prices in India all went up this month, supported by higher prices of raw materials and increased prices from the international market.
