2.1 China's central bank to cut RRR by 0.25 percentage points
The People's Bank of China announced on December 25 that it will cut reserve requirement ratio (RRR) for financial institutions by 0.25 percentage points, which will bring the weighted average RRR level to 7.8%. The RRR cut will take effect on December 5 and is expected to inject 500 billion yuan (69.45 billion US dollars) of liquidity into the economy.
This policy would cut the financial costs of refractory companies.

4.1 Guizhou Yinxing suspends brown fused alumina production
BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Dec 22 - A major brown fused alumina producer in China, Guizhou Yinxing New Materials Co., Ltd. halted production in early December due to sluggish market demand and doesn't plan to resume before the Spring Festival of this year. They suspended production in early December due to the sluggish market demand and produced about 1,000t last month. They already cut their price almost to the production line but still hard to boost sales, so they decided not to resume before the Spring Festival of this year. With a production capacity of 45,000tpy, the company produced about 15,000t in 2022 while they produced about 25,000t in 2021. Currently they hold an inventory of less than 100t.
