1. Market Highlights
The domestic HRC and steel plate market performance recovered during the month with the arrival of the traditional peak season. The demand from downstream industries recovered gradually, but remained far from strong. The market inventory kept reducing with steel mills cutting production and the downstream demand turning stronger. Discouraged by the narrowed profits or even losses, steel mills showed little confidence in the market prospect, and traders kept eager to close deals to reduce stockpiles. Leading producers such as Baowu Group, HBIS, Ansteel and Shougang Group maintained HRC EXW prices for October production flat.
In the meantime, the HRC and steel plate market in other countries also recovered, and traders remained eager to lift prices seeing the rising prices and better market performance in China. Nevertheless, the demand from downstream industries kept insufficient.
