1. Market Highlights
The antimony market showed a flat trend in May. Chinese antimony concentrate plants operated at a low rate due to tight supply, and thus suppliers intended to hold prices firm. Meanwhile, downstream consumers had poor demand for raw material under the severe epidemic. Antimony concentrate prices held firm at about RMB65,000/t (USD9,672/t) this month while antimony ingot prices fluctuated at around RMB80,000/t (USD11,904/t) and antimony trioxide prices hovered at about RMB70,000/t (USD10,416/t).
On the international market, the exchanged rate of USD to RMB rose rapidly, causing a great devaluation of RMB, so the prices on Chinese export market and international market both dropped a lot. Suppliers cut prices for sales in view of limited deals and sluggish market, and the export prices of antimony ingot 99.65%min and antimony trioxide slipped to USD12,500-12,700/t CIF Europe and USD10,500/t FOB China respectively. But the prices stabilized in late May.
