1 Market Highlights
The mainstream prices of Chinese copper cathode decreased with fluctuation before middle May discouraged by soft demand from consumers, and increased with fluctuation after middle May encouraged by increased demand. Supported by firm production cost, most copper rod producers held their TCs firm in May. The mainstream TCs for imported copper concentrate went up in May due to soft demand and enough inventory. In view of price fluctuation for copper cathode prices, the mainstream copper concentrate prices followed suit and downstream clients purchased the material as scheduled. The copper scrap market witnessed decreased prices before middle May due to soft demand, and saw increased prices after that due to increased demand. The prevailing prices for blister copper kept flat due to stable demand.
