1 Market Highlights
Chinese tin ingot market continued to see tight supply in January 2022. Consumers actively refilled stocks during this month, but spot deals were obviously insufficient in the market owing to the supply shortage in the spot market . Being bullish about the market outlook, producers held back from selling and traders had to do back-to-back business.
The supply of Chinese-origin tin concentrate declined in the Chinese market in January, but that of imported tin concentrate increased slightly. Meanwhile, the demand for tin concentrate weakened as most smelters, except those in Gejiu, halted production in late January . However, smelters in Gejiu made replenishments proactively for the Spring Festival holiday, which stimulated tin concentrate prices to fluctuate upwards in the domestic market and TCs to go up slightly.
Chinese tin solder prices rose in January following the upward price trend of raw material. The domestic tin solder market saw orders in the first half of the month, but deals declined in the second half of the month as most consumers started to take the Spring Festival holiday . In view of the rise of prices, tin solder producers cut their TCs once again and were less inactive in arranging production.
