The domestic HRC and steel plate market witnessed narrow and frequent price change during the month. Boosted by the rising prices of raw materials, steel mills and traders remained eager to lift prices . Besides, the market inventory ran at the low level . Nevertheless, end users kept cautious about placing orders seeing the frequent price fluctuation, leading to the dim market . The series of stimulant policies from the central government strengthened market participants' confidence to a large extent, and traders and customers began to supplement inventories actively late this month, right before the Spring Festival . Most steel mills reported sufficient orders for February production supported by the high purchasing activities from traders and end users during the last two weeks of the month.
In the meantime, prices of HRC and steel plate kept decreasing in the first half of the month, but tended to stabilize or even went up in the second half of the month supported by the worldwide price rise and short supply of energy, despite the sluggish demand.
