1. Market Highlights
The Chinese antimony market saw gradual increase of prices in September 2021. On September 6th, plants in Lengshuijiang, a major antimony ingot producing region in China, halted production, which led to tight supply in the domestic antimony ingot market . Against this backdrop, antimony ingot suppliers held back from selling and raised their prices continuously . As a result, antimony ingot 99.85%min prices increased from RMB70,000/t (USD10,955/t) EXW D/P to RMB78,000/t (USD12,207/t) EXW D/P during the month . Supported by firm antimony ingot prices, antimony trioxide prices rose . On the one hand, antimony products prices kept rising as suppliers held back from selling; on the other hand, downstream consumers started refilling stocks, resulting in stable sales of antimony trioxide . However, owing to power supply restrictions, end users slowed down placing orders in late September . In addition, the upstream supply chain was interrupted as more suppliers held back from selling.
The international antimony market basically ran steady in September 2021. Prices rose continuously to a level higher than some consumers' ideal level; as demand from end users still didn't increase obviously, most consumers just kept purchasing in accordance with orders, resulting in steady deals in the international market . However, the supply was tight in the international spot market owing to the long transportation period, so suppliers intended to keep their prices firm . Furthermore, prices in the Chinese market went up . Consequently, the international antimony market witnessed slow increase of prices during September.
