1.Market Highlights
China's Spring Festival holiday happened to be in February 2021. In early February, the domestic antimony market ran slowly, but raw material suppliers kept their prices firm owing to tight supply . After the end of the holiday, affected by the global inflation, the whole metal industry was bullish; meanwhile, Chinese antimony concentrate miners kept low operating rates and it's hard for China to import antimony concentrate due to inconvenient logistics. Against this backdrop, Chinese antimony ingot producers held limited stocks and traders who were bullish about the market outlook held back from selling, stimulating antimony ingot prices to go up by approximately RMB10,000/t (USD1,540/t) in February. Driven by higher prices for antimony ingot, antimony trioxide prices rose by nearly RMB6,000/t (USD924/t) in China in February, but most downstream consumers from polyester industry only refilled stocks in accordance with orders with a wait-and-see attitude . In the international market, suppliers raised their quotations for antimony ingot during February supported by high costs caused by higher prices in China and high freights . Prices for both antimony ingot and antimony trioxide in the international market increased rapidly in February as overseas consumers didn't hold sufficient stocks and the spot supply was tight.
