1. Market Highlights
Encouraged by increased raw materials prices, wire rod and rebar prices in Chinese leading markets went up in November and stocks in major regions went down fast. As the demand began to shrink in northern parts of China, the markup in this region remained smaller than southern parts of China. Due to the increased profit, most steel mills became more active in wire rod and rebar production by the end of November. Upon rising prices and tight supply in the international market, steel mills in China kept hiking wire rod and rebar export prices this month.
In the international market, wire rod and rebar prices in Malaysia and India went up slightly due to increased production cost. However, the demand did not show obvious signs of growing downstream industries.
