Prices for Chinese antimony products generally went up in July 2020. The supply of antimony concentrate was tight in China duirng the month as domestic miners just kept low operating rates; against this backdrop, prices for antimony concentrate kept firm and antimony ingot producers couldn't make generous profits. Meanwhile, China still kept small volumes of imports of antimony concentrate from major countries of Russia, Tajikstan and Australia, but the import volume declined by about 20% YOY.
Mainstream prices of Chinese antimony ingot went up slowly in July 2020 as suppliers successively raised their prices owing to the facts that producers in Hunan kept low operating rates of the material affected by the supply shortage of antimony concentrate and the costs to store antimony ingot were relatively high. The international antimony ingot also saw limited transactions in July 2020. Although overseas buyers delayed refilling stocks owing to soft demand, China's export prices of antimony ingot and prices of the material in the international market both increased slightly supported by higher prices in the Chinese market.
Chinese antimony trioxide producers still kept high operating rates in July 2020. In spite of continuously soft demand from downstream flame-retarding industry and polyester industry, some domestic antimony trioxide suppliers slightly raised their prices owing to higher prices of raw material antimony ingot; nevertheless, downstream customers were reluctant to accept the slightly increased prices. The international antimony trioxide market also saw limited transactions in July 2020. Affected by higher prices in China, some exporters raised their export prices, but both suppliers and customers in the international market just waited on the sidelines.
Prices of Chinese ethylene glycol antimony kept steady in China in July 2020. In spite of slightly higher prices of raw material, it's hard for prices of ethylene glycol antimony to go up in July as the demand from downstream customers was still soft and domestic producers kept high operating rates and were in fierce competition. The sluggish demand from polyester industry made ethylene glycol antimony prices in a stalemate in July 2020.
