1. Market Highlights
In June, Chinese manganese flake producers still ran at a high operating rate, while middlemen preferred purchasing from hand to mouth due to weak demand. As a result, producers reduced selling prices slowly in order to recoup funds . With sufficient orders, Tianyuan Manganese purchased around 1,000t of manganese flake from producers in South China every week in June, which failed to stabilize manganese flake prices . In late June, prices for manganese flake 99.7%min reached around RMB10,000/t (USD1,430/t) EXW D/P . Although Chinese producers mostly had no intention of further cutting prices, pessimistic attitude dominated the market as demand was unlikely to improve . EXW prices for Chinese manganese briquette and manganese lump dropped accordingly with the price downtrend in Chinese manganese flake market.
In June, demand in manganese flake export market remained weak. Affected by decreasing manganese flake prices in Chinese market, export prices for the material went down accordingly.
Due sluggish demand in overseas market, transaction prices moved down. Downstream demand improved slowly in overseas market and consumers mainly consumed manganese flake inventory, resulting in limited purchase activities and price downtrend.
