1. Market Highlights
In March, the overall prices for bismuth ingot rose first and then fell. In the first half of March, due to the impact of the COVID-19, domestic bismuth ingot producers were only able to maintain basic production due to the tight supply of raw material. Some large domestic bismuth ingot consumers had concentrated bulk purchases due to concerns about insufficient supply. The market saw active buying activities while suppliers kept firm prices and held back from selling due to limited inventory, so prices continued to rise in the first half of March. In the second half of March, with the outbreak of foreign epidemics, the bismuth ingot export market saw limited transactions. The demand from companies with Europe, America, and Southeast Asia as the main purchasing countries fell sharply. Most domestic consumers refused to purchase because of the bearish market outlook. It was difficult for bismuth ingot suppliers to sell, and they had to lower prices to facilitate transactions. Due to continued weak end demand, prices for bismuth ingot continued to decline.
With the spread of the epidemic in the European and American markets and the Southeast Asian market, demand from foreign markets decreased and most end consumers refused to purchase because of production restrictions, and strongly held a wait-and-see attitude towards the market outlook. In addition, prices for domestic bismuth ingot continued to decline, and export prices for bismuth ingot continued to decrease.
