Prices of both non-grain oriented electrical steel and grain oriented electrical steel in major markets of China witnessed an upward trend during this week mainly supported by the low market inventory and increase in steel mills' list prices. Major steel mills such as Baosteel, WISCO and Ansteel announced to raise their list prices of NGO electrical steel produced in January. However, the market sales performance did not become much better as customers were still purchasing materials for urgent need at the year end. Traders were not optimistic about the market outlook and refused to build large stockpiles.
