1. Market Highlights
Prices for HRC decreased slightly in major Chinese domestic markets during the month, and the market continued to run slowly. On the one hand, producers were active in lifting HRC EXW prices boosted by higher production costs due to rising prices of raw materials, while on the other hand, complaining shrinking orders for finished products, end users were cautious about building stocks and only purchased according to urgent needs, with wait-and-see attitudes. Meanwhile, reporting limited sales volumes, traders showed little confidence in the market prospect and were cautious about supplementing inventories. In the meantime, prices for HRC also went down in other Asian markets dragged by the insufficient downstream demand. Insiders foresee another price decrease in August.
