1. Market Highlights
Generally speaking, ferrochrome prices increased in March. Supported by increased stainless steel prices at the beginning of this month, ferrochrome prices climbed quickly . Besides, chrome ore prices both at Chinese ports and overseas kept rising in March which supported the alloys prices . However, approaching the end of this month, prompt chrome ore prices at Chinese ports went down slightly amid slow buying activities, and VAT rate is supposed to reduce from April 1st, so traders slowed down the ferrochrome purchase and the prices went down a little bit.
Chrome ore prices at Chinese ports increased in March and the prices trend followed the HC ferrochrome closely. Smelters showed great interest to purchase prompt materials as the ferrochrome prices rose quickly at the start of this month . However, as ferrochrome prices showed downtrend amid low liquidity at the end of March, chrome ore prices fell back.
European and America HC ferrochrome prices went up this month supported by bullish Chinese chrome ore and alloys market. Meanwhile, the power constraints in South Africa were also regarded as s major support for the prices.
