1. Market Highlights
In January, Chinese germanium metal 99.99%min was sluggish, and producers held their offers firm. But most consumers replenished stocks in early January rather than late this month when the Spring Festival is approaching. In the second half of the month, the market saw limited enquiries and transactions as logistics companies stopped operation one after another. As germanium metal prices were stable on the whole in January, traders were still inactive in purchasing. With the end of New Year's Day holiday, overseas consumers started to send enquires, so the export market saw more transactions. Insiders predicted that the market would be sluggish in early February as insiders all left the market for the Spring Festival, while it would see active transactions gradually after market participants returned to market one after another. But the demand might not change after the holiday, and thus the prices are expected to be stable.
