In January, Chinese copper prices kept fluctuating within the range of RMB47,000-48,000/t (USD6,926-7,074/t), with a stable trend on the whole. In the first half of January, the market saw stable transactions; in the latter half of the month, transactions became scarcer as market participants left the market for the Spring Festival. As a result, China's copper inventory increased. In addition, LME copper prices went up from USD5,861/t to USD6,166/t and LME copper inventory increased as well. With the US dollar index dropping, the Yuan-to-Dollar exchange rate rebounded.
